It features some of the most well-rounded features at a relatively low price point. Our favourite VR headset for sim racing in 2023 is without a doubt the Oculus Quest 2. What is the best VR headset for sim racing in 2023?

Best Racing Wheels For F1 23: Xbox, PS5 & PC.F1 23 Compatible Racing Wheels & Controllers.I do not take sides in these matters, i don't defend any brand or product, even if i love it. Just properly explaining my opinion here. I know, your fanboish child like response really doesn't deserve this many words but hey, maybe even you would understand me this time, and hopefully this information is useful to someone else browsing. It's uncomfortable as hell and has a tiny fov, but then again the lenses are also better.Ĭonsumer VR from 2016 up to now has been about trade-offs and still is! I mean, even the budget option(Quest 2) has a sharper looking more saturated screen with more or less the same contrast/black level. As in displays and optics, and resolution aside, the colors are at best mediocre and the contrast and black level is just as poor as most lcd headsets and that makes a big difference. I also didn't focus on resolution but the "visual experience". Your post comes off as a 12yr old who spent their life savings on a index kit and now you need to defend it to randoms on the internet, adding in stuff like "lemme guess you think resolution is everything" puts you right in my crosshairs immediatly though, because if you read my post i'm obviously concerned about more than one aspect of one component. I had both and i sold both for each their own issues, but OP's issue is stability and as such i'd recommend a lighthouse hmd, index or not. To make it clear, i don't want any of them.

I even said i'd pick the Index over the G2, but that does not change the fact that the visuals never have been the best in the index hmd.Ĭolors are muted, contrast is low and the lenses have a lot of issues with glare, just like it's competitors from the same gen. I've owned most hmd's since 2016, i have enough experience with them to give a nuanced opinion. G2 panel has better colors, slightly better contrast, and even though the sweetspot is small, there is way less glare than on the Index. That is if you can find some in good condition at a good price around you of course.

Maybe consider a Vive Pro(1)/Index hmd and a basestation used for now for stability for your racing sessions and then upgrade that when new headsets arrive sometime.

The index kit is still expensive because it's expensive to make and a niche product, the visual experience is not worth the full price today. It reminds me of the type of camera tracking psvr did, just a bit better.but still only beats that barely functional tracking system though, it's way worse than Quest 2 and just crap compared to lighthouse. Even in perfect conditions i can still see it constantly micro-adjusting/wobbling my view. Personally i would give up the resolution of the G2 for the stability of tracking you'd get with an Index as the G2 has sent me right into a wall with it's very subpar tracking several times. What are the new VR headsets on the block? (With an acceptable price)ĭid anyone upgrade from the Reverb G2? If so, to which one? Was it worth it?Īn Index kit still holds up perfecly well with it's audio, tracking, controllers and refresh rate, but it would only be worth the purchase today at a drastically lower price and even then, the resolution and overall image quality is a big step down from a G2. Never had those problems with the other headsets.Īnyway, does anyone have the same problem with the Reverb G2? Sometimes the sound is louder in one side than in the other and stays like this until a restart, and some other problems I had.

It relies on the Windows Mixed Reality and I always had a horrible experience with it in the last year. It's either the sound that stop working in the middle of the race, or you start a Race and the VR is black forcing you to restart the PC, sometimes it doesn't even get recognised until you change it's USB port to another one. HOWEVER, I'm cannot stand one more second of the poor stability of the Reverb G2. I really think it's good enough for me (When it works). The FOV is not good at all, but the clarity for me gives me more immersion than the FOV from the Pixel 5k. The main one I use until today is the Reverb G2.

The Pimax had the amazing FOV, but to be honest the FOV wasn't enough for me to compensate the bad image quality and clarity it had. I'm VR fan for racing, mostly playing iRacing, and I have used a Oculus Rift 2 -> Pimax 5k -> Reverb G2.
